Harvey Zielinski is a transmasculine actor, writer and director working across stage and screen. He is a two-time Heath Ledger Scholarship finalist, recipient of the Casting Guild of Australia’s Rising Star Award, a two-time AWGIE nominee for SWEET MILK LAKE and WHITE FEVER, and a Betty Roland Prize finalist for WHITE FEVER.
Harvey recently wrote, directed, produced and starred in his debut feature film and first screenplay, SWEET MILK LAKE. The film is an Originate Features production by Film Camp, financed by VicScreen, Screen Australia, MIFF Premiere Fund, SBS, Arenamedia, Minderoo Pictures, Feracious Entertainment and WeirAnderson Films, with additional support from Impact Australia 2 and the ABC Fresh Start Fund. SWEET MILK LAKE was nominated for the 2025 AWGIE Award for Best Original Feature, and was named by Screen Daily as one of “75 films to tempt festival directors in 2026.” The film is set to premiere in late 2026.
He is currently developing his second feature, THUGS, with support from Screen Australia, alongside a slate of film and television projects.
For television, Harvey is best known for playing series regular Charlie in the ABC comedy WHITE FEVER, for which he also wrote. His co-written episode received an AWGIE nomination for Best Comedy and was shortlisted for the Betty Roland Prize. He has also appeared as a series regular in DEADLOCH (Amazon Prime) and DON’T LOOK DEEPER (dir. Catherine Hardwicke), opposite Don Cheadle and Emily Mortimer. Additional screen acting credits include LOVE ME, SPREADSHEET, WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS and METROSEXUAL.
Harvey’s first stage play was commissioned by Malthouse Theatre. His stage acting credits include WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF (Sydney Theatre Company), GENDER EUPHORIA, BECAUSE THE NIGHT, HIR, THE ANTIPODES and SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER.
As a director, Harvey was Director’s Attachment to Emma Freeman on season two of THE NEWSREADER, and directed the Victorian Government campaign THE UNSAID SAYS A LOT.
Harvey is a dual Australian/British citizen represented in Australia and the USA.
